Monday thoughts

Hello friend,

You know that promise you make to yourself to “behave” around food…

Then evening comes…

And suddenly you’re a little more lenient: allowing few extra bites here and there and not paying much attention to what’s on your plate.

And then comes the uncomfortable aftermath:

A heavy tummy, restless sleep, and waking up with a yuck feeling.

That happened to me twice last week!

The difference this time?

I’d been journaling daily. I noticed the patterns, made a few small adjustments and the rest of the week went much better.

Then the weekend arrived…

And yes I found myself being lenient again, followed by the same icky feeling.

This week is all about resetting

I’m focusing on slowing down and returning to the basics of self-care:

  • Resting enough to have energy to cook (because honestly, I am done with eating out and greasy food)
  • Sleeping early to recover from three crazy weeks.
  • Carving out alone time to recharge and reconnect with myself.

Self-care isn’t about doing more

It’s about giving yourself permission to do less to make space for what truly matters.

I love this quote from James Clear:

“It is common to think about what you would like to accomplish. It is less common to think about what must be discarded to make space for your new endeavors. The time must come from somewhere. What do you need to give up to make space for what you would like to achieve?”

With care,

Rouba

P.S: Your turn: what will you be giving up this week to make space for more rest?

Hello hello, It’s been a while since you last heard from me. As January quietly comes to an end, I wanted to check back in. A new year often brings fresh intentions. But sometimes, the body has its own plans. When the body speaks loud My return to you comes after a rough patch, one where my relationship with food was tested in ways I hadn’t experienced in a long time. It began with shoulder and back pain that kept getting louder. At first, there was denial. This is nothing. It will pass. But...

Dear friends, You may have noticed I’ve been quiet lately. The past few months were intense: a two-month consulting project, 12 two-day workshops, 250 people, and a return to the corporate world after seven years as a solo entrepreneur. It was everything I was craving: connection, challenge, immersion, and the energy of a team. But my body… my body felt like it was screaming. Sleepless nights, racing thoughts, back and shoulder pain, constipation. My nervous system was running overtime. I...

Hello Reader, Sometimes life hits all at once: messy, overwhelming, unavoidable Last week, i snapped at my mom. She hanged up on me. And I was left sitting there, heart pounding and eyes burning, feeling everything at once. Moments like these used to send me straight to food, to quiet the pain inside. But that quick relief comes at a cost: guilt, shame, indigestion, heaviness… And that voice whispering: “I did it again.” The shift that changed everything The next day, while commuting from...
